My goal is to provide you with the best possible health care. I do this by blending the most effective methods from both conventional and alternative medicine into an integrated, customized treatment plan for improving your health.

I also believe in sharing my knowledge and experience with my patients. I want my patients to fully understand why they are not well and exactly what they can do to regain optimal health. My practice has a strong educational component.

Medical Education and Training

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.), 1982: The National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon. Four-year comprehensive degree program focusing on holistic approaches to health care management, public health education, preventive and therapeutic medicine. Extensive training in the physical, neurological, psychological, and biochemical aspects of human health, diagnostic tools and treatment methods. Academic and clinical training in obstetrics, individual, family, and community health specialties.

Professional Experience

Physician in Private Practice, 1982 - present: Naturopathic physician in active practice and director of The Connecticut Center for Health (CCH). CCH is a 7-physician family-oriented medical practice emphasizing holistic and natural therapeutics . CCH has a strong focus on preventive medicine, and is active in public health education.

Staff Pharmacist, 1980 - 1982: Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon. Reviewed physician orders and prepared nutritional and medicinal IVs for all hospital units, including a large neo-natal ICU. Supervised technicians in all pharmacy functions. Prepared and maintained patient profiles, monitored dosage schedules, and researched therapeutic effects and potential chemical/biological interactions of drugs. Technical consultant to physicians and nursing staff. Conducted in-service seminars to staff and students. Monitored preparation, distribution, and stocking of pharmaceutical products for hospital nursing stations and clinics.

Field Clinical Work:

Four-week rotation in one of the nation's largest holistic health centers, supporting a staff of four including two M.D.'s, one N.D., and one D.C. at Mountain View Medical Associates, Nyack, New York, 1982

Two-week intensive study of innovative nutritional therapeutic approaches to the treatment of cancer and other degenerative diseases at LaGloria Hospital, Mexico, 1981

One-month study program focusing on the identification, selection and processing of botanically-derived medicinal substances with a leading herbal practitioner in Williams, Oregon, 1981

Pharmacist, 1978 - 1980: Pay'N'Save Pharmacy, Portland, Oregon (part-time). Pharmacist in a retail pharmacy utilizing on-line computer systems to compile and manage information on drug interactions, patient profiles, and other relevant data.

Staff Pharmacist, 1975 - 1978: Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Pharmacy supervisor managing staff of up to five technicians in a centralized full unit dose system. Responsible for high-volume IV admixture program supporting in-patient clinics.

2-94 to 12-94 Appointed to State of Connecticut Office of Health Care Access Advisory Committee representing alternative medicine providers.

1-96 to 5-97 - Member of the Alternative Medicine Advisory Board for the Alternative Medicine Division of Oxford Health Plans in Trumbull, CT.

12-96 to present - Member of the Advisory Council to the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.

9-97 to 4-98 - Naturopathic clinical coordinator of the Naturopathic residency program at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT.

1-92 to 11-96 - Founding member, product formulator member of the board of directors for Pure Encapsulations, Inc., a manufacturer of nutritional supplements for the health professional market.

5-99 to present - Member of the Advisory Board and Writer for Integrative Medicine Communications, Herb & Dietary Supplement Report Newsletter.

9-97 to present - President, CEO and founder of Vital Nutrients, a professional natural products company with the mission of producing products that comply with FDA GMP regulations for manufacturing and quality.

10-00 to 5-01 - Served as a grant reviewer for CAM grant proposals submitted to the NCCAM Division of the National Institute of Health.
